The first team of Al Ahly SC is preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will face Ugandan side Kitarra in the second preliminary round, after Kitarra advanced at the expense of Somalia's Mogadishu City.
Kitarra secured their place in the next round by repeating their dominance over Mogadishu City, winning 2-0 in the second leg, which solidified their right to advance after also winning the first leg 2-1, concluding the tie with an aggregate score of 4-1.
The first leg between Al Ahly and Kitarra will take place in Uganda on either October 16, 17, or 18, while Al Ahly will host the second leg in Cairo on either October 23, 24, or 25.
The match against Al Ahly is the most significant in Kitarra's history, especially since the Ugandan team is making only its second appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup, having previously participated in the tournament during the 2024-2025 season.
Kitarra has achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the second preliminary round of the tournament for the first time, after advancing past the first round, and they hope to continue their continental adventure against Al Ahly.
Kitarra secured their spot in the Confederation Cup after winning the Uganda Cup, while Mogadishu City qualified for the tournament as the 2026 Somalia Cup champions.
