The Anis Hadj Moussa saga sparked intense discussions during the final hours of the summer transfer window, before reaching a surprising conclusion. A few months after this event, a figure from Feyenoord discussed the behind-the-scenes negotiations with Al Ittihad, providing insights into the reasons that led to the failure of the deal.

Robert Eenhoorn, the general director of Feyenoord, revealed the factors that led the Dutch club to decline Al Ittihad's offer for Anis Hadj Moussa. According to several reports during the transfer window, the Saudi club had made a proposal of 42.5 million euros to acquire the services of the Algerian international, who was expressing a desire to leave Rotterdam at the time.

In an interview with ESPN, the Dutch official explained that the payment terms suggested by the Jeddah club quickly raised doubts within the management. “In the first offer we received, the initial payment represented only 10% of the total amount. This immediately triggered warning signals,” he revealed.

In light of this situation, Feyenoord requested a bank guarantee to secure the financial transaction. A document that the Saudi side ultimately never provided, leading to the definitive rejection of the proposal on the last day of the transfer window.

“This is why we requested a bank guarantee, but it never arrived. In my opinion, this operation was never serious,” Eenhoorn stated.

According to Saudi sources, Al Ittihad believed it was impossible to mobilize the necessary funds for this guarantee after reaching the ceiling it could offer for the Algerian winger.

Remaining at Feyenoord, Hadj Moussa has made an impressive start to the season. With five goals and one assist, the Fennec has established himself as a key player for the Dutch club, currently leading the Eredivisie. His performances confirm his essential role in the Rotterdam project, despite a departure that seemed imminent.
