Riyad Mahrez is set to join Qatar, as we exclusively reported two days ago!

The Qatari media outlet Winwin confirmed the information reported by DZfoot on September 30, stating that the 35-year-old former Algerian international will indeed reunite with his compatriot Baghdad Bounedjah at Al Shamal.

The former Al Ahli player, who is currently in Dubai for training with a fitness coach, is expected to travel to Qatar early next week to finalize his transfer.

Being a free agent, he should undergo his medical examination on Monday or Tuesday. He reportedly reached an agreement on Friday with the management of the QSL runners-up, to sign a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.

As previously mentioned, one of the reasons that may have influenced his choice of Al Shamal is their participation in the Asian Champions League, which he has won in the last two seasons.
