Manchester City is preparing for the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League. The Citizens will host AEK Athens at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday at 19:00, without their Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo.

After a defeat on matchday two against Paris Saint-Germain last week, Manchester City is determined to get back to winning ways to move closer to the top 8. However, the English club will have to do without one of their attacking assets. Antoine Semenyo is unavailable. His coach revealed this during a press conference on Monday. Enzo Maresca informed that the Ghanaian player is expected to be sidelined for about eight weeks due to a lateral ligament injury. Nevertheless, the club hopes to rely on Erling Haaland to lead the attack. The Norwegian left the match against Ipswich in the Premier League before the end.

“Initially, we feared that his injury was more serious. After yesterday's MRI, we are much more confident: it is less severe than we feared. He (Semenyo) will be out for eight weeks. What matters now is that he recovers properly. When he returns in December, it will be like a new addition to the team. It is the collateral ligament. It is not a muscle injury,”, said the Italian coach, before adding regarding Erling Haaland, “he could be ready. We will see. We have a training session today and some uncertainties remain. Yesterday, he felt quite good, he was improving. The other players are doing more or less well.”
