Zaki: Winning the Asian Championship is not out of reach

National coach Badou Zaki, the head of the Jordanian national team, confirmed that his ambition is to lead the "Nashama" to victory in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, emphasizing that the task is "difficult but not impossible."

Zaki stated during a press conference held today at the Jordan Football Association headquarters, after announcing the squad for the friendly matches against Syria and Venezuela: "We understand that there is significant pressure after the Nashama finished second in the Asian Cup and the Arab Cup, but we will do our utmost to achieve the 2027 Asian Cup."

He added: "We aim to enhance professionalism and seriousness in our work and build trust," pointing to his desire to form a team capable of competing for the continental title.

The squad announced by Zaki saw the absence of striker Yazan Al-Naimat, who is still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after suffering a torn ACL, while the Moroccan coach confirmed that the technical staff is continuously monitoring his condition, without specifying a return date to play.

Regarding goalkeeper Yazid Abu Layla, Zaki clarified that he has a chance to join the national team, noting that performance will determine who will be the starting goalkeeper in the upcoming period.
