Zamalek files a complaint against the referees committee, submitting an official report over two penalty kicks and VAR errors.
The board of directors of Zamalek SC, led by Captain Hussein Labib, has filed an official complaint to the Egyptian Football Association against the main refereeing committee, citing the injustice faced by Zamalek in the recent Cairo derby against Al Ahly, which resulted in their loss and wasted efforts from the players and coaching staff.
The use of an unknown officiating crew, significantly below the level required for such a match, led to a series of decisions that were clearly biased against Zamalek, impacting the flow and outcome of the game.
According to several refereeing experts, there were two penalty kicks that were not awarded to Zamalek, in addition to the failure to review multiple incidents in favor of Zamalek using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.
Zamalek holds the main refereeing committee responsible for the loss, as it was affected by the campaign against it prior to the start of the league, resulting in a lack of fairness and showing a preference for one side over Zamalek.
While Zamalek expresses deep dissatisfaction with the current management of the refereeing committee, as evidenced by the mistakes made by the Slovenian referee in the derby match, Zamalek will not remain idle and knows well how to defend the rights of the club and its fans.
Although Zamalek has previously indicated its reluctance to question the integrity of the refereeing system in general, the club's stance towards this system has not changed, but there are individuals within the refereeing committee who need to reconsider the choices of referees and ensure they are up to the responsibility, so that fairness is the foundation of officiating during matches.
