Samir Nasri has reportedly been detained in relation to a money laundering investigation linked to purported organized drug traffickers.
The French outlet Le Parisien (via talkSPORT) indicates that the former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder was held for ten hours before being released on Thursday.
The report further states that the 39-year-old was freed on the evening of July 9 without any charges being brought at this time.
Nasri underwent extensive questioning at the offices of the Financial Investigation and Research Brigade (BRIF) of the Paris judicial police.
His interrogation was said to be connected to alleged associations with Hakim Berrebouh, a convicted drug trafficker from Marseille, and his associate, Olivier Sabbah.
Berrebouh, known by the nickname ‘Le Marcassin’ (Wild Boar), is currently incarcerated after being apprehended in Dubai and subsequently extradited to France in 2021.
Le Parisien mentions that Nasri was specifically interrogated regarding money laundering.
Nasri’s connections are reportedly tied to his prior involvement as a shareholder of the nightclub ‘XS’.
Even though he was released on Thursday evening, the two-time Premier League champion could be called back at a later time for potential charges.

The 41-cap former France international developed his skills at Marseille before transferring to Arsenal in 2008.
He spent three seasons at the Emirates Stadium before making a contentious switch to Manchester City, where he secured two league titles.
