Ghana's youngest scorer in World Cup history, Caleb Yirenkyi, resumes his club responsibilities.

Caleb Yirenkyi has joined his FC Nordsjlland teammates at the club's pre-season training camp in Austria, following Ghana's World Cup journey. The 20-year-old was not part of the initial contingent that traveled to the camp. His late arrival comes after an impressive tournament in North America, where he made history as Ghana's youngest-ever World Cup scorer with a last-minute goal against Panama. Yirenkyi's decisive goal in the 95th minute against Panama was a pivotal moment for Ghana in the tournament. Brandon Thomas-Asante provided an impeccable pass into the box, and Yirenkyi skillfully turned and struck past goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera. This goal marked him as the 10th different Ghanaian to score in World Cup history, contributing to the Black Stars' total of 19 goals in the tournament. At 20 years and 153 days, he surpassed a record held by Asamoah Gyan for two decades and became Ghana's youngest World Cup debutant. Yirenkyi's outstanding performance at the World Cup has attracted the attention of several prominent European clubs. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all increased their interest, with scouts present at his games. Brighton, Tottenham, Newcastle, along with clubs from France and Germany are also keeping an eye on the midfielder. Nordsjlland is said to have turned down a £15 million offer in January and values him at over £25 million. Despite all the buzz, Yirenkyi is still under contract with the Danish club until 2030, with Nordsjlland's football director labeling him as "one of the best midfielders in the Super League." Initially excluded from Nordsjlland's pre-season camp amid the transfer rumors, his arrival in Austria now marks his reintegration into the squad as he gears up for the 2026/27 season.
