— 1. FC Kln (@fckoeln) July 11, 2026The 27-year-old left-back joins the German team as a free agent after concluding a four-year stint with French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre, where he became an integral part of the squad.
Mensah's transfer follows a standout performance during the FIFA World Cup in North America, where he played every minute across Ghana's four matches.
The Black Stars reached the Round of 32 before their journey ended with a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia.
The former Red Bull Salzburg player became available after his contract with Auxerre lapsed, as both sides could not come to an agreement on an extension.
In the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season, Mensah was pivotal in Auxerre's battle to stay in the league, making 30 league appearances and contributing two assists as the club successfully evaded relegation.
The Ghanaian defender initially joined Auxerre on loan in 2021 before securing a permanent transfer the following year.
His reliability, defensive prowess, and experience made him one of the club's most trusted players during his tenure in France.
With his transfer to FC Kln now complete, Mensah is anticipated to provide essential experience and stability to the Bundesliga team as they gear up for the upcoming season.
