Max Verstappen discloses his relaxed attitude towards the 100-driver challenge at Silverstone.

Four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has acknowledged that he has done no preparation ahead of a 30-lap challenge against 100 go-karters at Silverstone next week.

The Dutch driver will face the task of starting from the back of the grid and will aim to overtake all 100 go-karters in 30 laps around the Silverstone circuit. Among the go-karters are athletes, streamers, content creators, influencers, and fans.

While addressing the media before the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, Verstappen stated that he will simply "show up and do my thing."

"No, I didn't do anything," he said when inquired about whether he had researched his competitors. "I'll just show up and enjoy myself, to be honest. Let’s see how it plays out. But yeah, it's a lot of people."

"Starting from the back, it’s going to be tough, but I hope I can catch them all. However, we don't know yet. I don't even know the format at the moment, so I will just show up and do my thing."

The challenge has piqued the interest of some of the Red Bull driver's F1 competitors. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc offered a note of caution ahead of the event.

"I mean, 100 is a significant number," the Monegasque driver remarked in Italy. "Honestly, the only piece of advice I'll offer is maybe not to crash into Max, because he has a season to wrap up, and for Max to be cautious, as I don’t know how skilled those drivers are."

"But 100 drivers is quite a lot on a circuit, so I think it will be entertaining. However, obviously, when you're racing against one of the best drivers in the world, they might have a challenging time."

Speaking during the press conference in Madrid, Williams' Carlos Sainz added: "I took part in a karting race yesterday with my team. I started 20th due to a reverse grid and was in first place within five laps. So by my estimates, if there are another 20 times five, in 20 laps Max will definitely be in first place. 15-20 laps, or who knows, depending on how much overtaking occurs. But he will win it easily."
