Messi's empire expands... a new destination emerges in Spain

Multiple Spanish media reports indicate that Lionel Messi is close to finalizing a deal to purchase CD Eldense, a club competing in the Spanish Segunda División, adding it to his growing portfolio of clubs.

Reports state that Messi has given his preliminary approval to acquire all shares owned by the majority stakeholder (TH Solutions S.A.S), and the announcement of the deal is expected in the coming days.

The Colombian investment group, which acquired CD Eldense in October 2025, will transfer its entire stake to Messi.

The deal still requires approval from the Higher Sports Council in Spain.

Messi, who recently announced his retirement from international football, acquired UE Cornellà, a club in the Spanish fifth division, on April 16.

He is also expected to acquire a stake in Inter Miami once his playing contract with the team ends.

CD Eldense is based in the city of Elda, which has a population of around 55,000 in the Alicante province of eastern Spain.

Although the club has spent most of its history in lower divisions, it has participated in the Segunda División for 3 of the last 4 seasons thanks to new investments.

Eldense sacked its coach Claudio Paragan last Sunday after earning only 2 points from their first 4 league matches, placing them 20th out of 22 teams.
