Nigeria has secured another significant continental event for its expanding international sports agenda by obtaining the rights to host the 2027 Africa Beach Games Championship.
This confirmation came via a statement from the National Sports Commission (NSC) on their official X account this past Friday.
“The hosting rights were revealed by Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), during his visit to the National Sports Commission Headquarters in Abuja.
“The championship is set to take place in Lagos and represents a crucial advancement in the National Sports Commission’s strategy to leverage major international competitions to enhance Nigeria’s sports economy, boost sports tourism, create opportunities for athletes and enterprises, and establish the country as one of Africa’s top destinations for global sporting events.
“This announcement follows Nigeria’s recent designation as the host for the 2027 African School Games in Abuja, with ongoing discussions about the potential to bring Africa’s Olympic qualification events to Nigeria in anticipation of the 2030 Olympic Games.”
