Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner successfully retained his Wimbledon title on Sunday, overcoming Alexander Zverev with scores of 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The world No. 1 clinched his second consecutive Wimbledon championship and the fifth Grand Slam title of his career in an exhilarating and fiercely contested match that lasted three hours and 46 minutes.

“We both started strong. My team and I prepared as thoroughly as possible, so I must express my gratitude to the entire team and the support I receive from everyone involved,” Sinner remarked during the trophy ceremony.
“It was an incredible final once more, and it truly takes two athletes; Sascha and I gave our all. I am thrilled about the victory, but also about the high level of play from both of us.
“There is no better venue for playing tennis.
“You can sense the butterflies Sunday morning upon waking; it is a uniquely special day, and you never know how many times you will get to return on a Sunday, so I never take anything for granted.”

With this triumph, Sinner became just the 10th man in the Open Era to defend a Wimbledon title successfully. Despite the defeat, Zverev had a remarkable tournament and is poised to ascend to No. 2 in the ATP rankings.
Three-time Wimbledon victor Boris Becker and 1991 champion Michael Stich remain the only German men to have lifted the trophy at The All England Club. Zverev was the first German man to reach the Wimbledon final since Becker in 1995.
