No athlete has secured a definite position in the Black Maidens lineup prior to the U-17 World Cup – Joe Nana Adarkwa

Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has warned players that their positions in Ghana's squad for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup are not assured, emphasizing that selection will be based on performance and merit.

Ghana achieved qualification for the global event after narrowly defeating Senegal 7-6 in a penalty shootout at the Accra Sports Stadium during the final round of qualifiers, securing their spot at the tournament to be held in Morocco.

Nevertheless, Adarkwa notes that qualification is merely the start of the team's journey, with the coaching staff set to continue scouting and evaluating players as they aim to build a competitive squad.

The coach indicated that there are still chances for emerging talents to join the team, highlighting that consistent performance will be crucial for earning a spot in the final lineup.

We will continue scouting to enhance the squad. No position is secure; only the top players will make the team, Adarkwa stated during an interview with Asempa FM.

The Black Maidens have been placed in a formidable Group C at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where they will go up against former champions Canada, record winners Brazil, and the European side Norway.

Despite the challenging task ahead, Adarkwa is confident that Ghana will be well-prepared to compete with some of the top youth teams in international football.

Group C is tough, but we will be ready, he added.

The technical team of the Black Maidens is expected to increase player evaluation and preparations in the upcoming weeks as Ghana seeks to leave a strong mark at the tournament in Morocco.
