Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant is undergoing individual training at Paderborn as a result of knee problems.

German-Ghanaian defender Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant is currently taking it easy at SC Paderborn's training camp, following knee complications that arose during a recent friendly match. The 25-year-old center-back participated solely in an individual training session on Monday as the squad kicked off their camp in Bad Haring. As reported by local outlet Neue Westfalische, Awortwie-Grant experienced tendon issues in his knee while playing in the 3-2 victory over Hannover 96. Head coach Ralf Kettemann noted that the discomfort was not the result of a tackle or impact, which has left the coaching staff cautious about the underlying cause. "We don’t know exactly where it comes from. It didn’t happen in a duel. So we’re just being careful now," said the 39-year-old. Kettemann emphasized that Paderborn has no plans to take any risks this early in the preseason. With a lengthy summer ahead, he highlighted that being fit at the start of the season is more crucial than overexerting at this stage. Consequently, the club prefers to give him a day of rest instead of exacerbating the situation. It remains uncertain whether Awortwie-Grant will be able to return to full team training in the upcoming days.
