Handball Cubs Compete in Abidjan
The Moroccan national handball team for players under 18 departed the country on Sunday, heading to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, to participate in the 22nd edition of the African Youth Championship, scheduled from September 15 to 22.
The Moroccan Royal Handball Federation announced the squad for the 2008-born national team, which has been drawn into Group C alongside Libya and Rwanda. The team aims to secure one of the top five spots to qualify for the Under-19 World Championship, set to take place in 2027.
The national team is coached by Abdelmajid Zawali, with assistance from coach Mustafa Hadawi. The squad includes 18 players, 12 of whom previously participated in the inaugural Under-17 World Championship held in Casablanca last year, where the Moroccan team finished in 11th place out of 12 teams. The group also features 9 players competing in the national league, as well as 9 dual-nationality players, distributed among France with 4 players, Germany with 3, and Spain with 2.
