Morocco's Karate Team Takes Third Place in Africa
The Moroccan national karate team secured third place in the medal table at the 2026 African Championships for all categories, held in Algiers from September 10 to 13, achieving a total of 26 medals, including 5 golds.
The five gold medals came from the senior kata team, Saeed Obaya in the under 67 kg category in the senior kumite, Mehdi Seriti in the under 84 kg category in senior kumite, as well as Ali Afif in the under 60 kg category for under 21 males, and Sara Idrissi in the under 54 kg category in the girls' kumite.
It is worth noting that the World Karate Championships for youth categories, including juniors and under 21, will take place in Poland from October 14 to 18 this year; while the World Team Championships will be held in China from November 20 to 22 of the same year.
