Since leaving Al-Ahli, Riyad Mahrez remains at the center of speculation. After being linked to clubs in Europe, Asia, and Africa, a new possibility is emerging in Brazil.

Riyad Mahrez finds himself at an unexpected crossroads in his career. Free after terminating his contract with Al-Ahli, the former captain of the Algeria national team has yet to determine his next step. Since leaving Saudi Arabia, his name has been mentioned in Europe, Asia, and even Africa, but no opportunity has materialized so far.

Currently, a new destination is under discussion: Brazil. Rumors suggest that São Paulo is interested in the 35-year-old player, although no concrete negotiations or official proposals have been announced to date. This is an intriguing possibility as the Brazilian championship seems to be attracting an increasing number of big international names nearing the end of their careers.

This phenomenon also affects African stars. Hakim Ziyech has officially joined Botafogo in Brazil, where he signed a contract valid until the end of 2028. Released from his commitment with Wydad Casablanca, the 33-year-old Moroccan was welcomed in Rio de Janeiro before being presented as one of the key new signings for the carioca club.

While awaiting news of his future club, Mahrez could soon return to Algeria in a different context. According to several sources, the FAF is considering inviting him, along with Aïssa Mandi, to pay tribute to the two recently retired internationals. This would be a way to honor two players who have marked an entire generation and contributed to the historic victory at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
