Chiamaka Nnadozie has shared the mindset that is driving the Super Falcons as they gear up to defend their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco this month.
The Brighton goalkeeper emphasized that the defending champions are committed to tackling their title defense with resolve, discipline, and a focus on taking each match one at a time.
Super Falcons Motivated for Title Defense
“We will approach it one game at a time because we cannot afford to falter at any point due to overconfidence. Our focus will be firmly on the dual objectives of securing a FIFA World Cup spot and holding onto the trophy,” Nnadozie stated to thenff.com.
“It's exciting to see an increase in the number of teams at the finals (16 now, up from 12). This will enhance the competitiveness of the tournament, but we remain calm and concentrated regardless of how many teams are participating.”

Nnadozie on Group Dynamics
Nnadozie also downplayed the notion that some groups might be more challenging than others in the three-week, 16-team tournament set to take place in Rabat and Casablanca.
“I don’t subscribe to the idea that any group is tougher than the rest. Honestly, at this point in Africa, there are no weak teams. This tournament will likely bring many surprises as the so-called smaller teams will be eager to show they are formidable, so every team deserves respect and should be taken seriously,” remarked the former Paris FC goalkeeper.
“For us, we understand our goals: the Cup and the World Cup qualification. It won’t be easy, but we are the Super Falcons of Nigeria!”
The Super Falcons have been placed in Group C, where they will compete against Egypt, Zambia, and tournament newcomers Malawi during the event, which runs from July 26 to August 16.
