Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni has revealed that his team needs to exhibit greater determination if they intend to overcome Switzerland in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The reigning champions are up against a tough opponent in Kansas City, yet they are motivated by their head coach's passionate appeal for complete commitment and tenacity.

During a press conference at the Kansas City Stadium on Friday, Scaloni emphasized his long-term strategy for the team as they aim for consecutive World Cup titles.
He also spoke about the team's star player, who currently holds the record for the most goals in World Cup history with 21, and is contending for the Golden Boot.
Scaloni cautioned his players that Switzerland poses a formidable challenge, referencing their extensive World Cup legacy, their seasoned lineup, and their victory over Colombia in the Round of 16.
“I want this national team to be remembered for its resilience. We, the coaching staff and the players, play football for this reason. We don't just play to win. When you witness the passion that comes from our hearts, it's truly remarkable.
“When you see a 10-year-old expressing those sentiments and speaking with such fervor, with everyone cheering ‘Argentina’, it's incredibly moving. That’s the legacy I aspire to create. At 39 years of age, some may doubt his ability to rise to the occasion, but I've stated before that as long as he desires to, he will remain the best,” he remarked.

“I’m not expressing this because I coach him, but because I genuinely believe that if he wishes, he will keep being the best. Those of us who observe his training, those who see him perform today, can hardly envision what he was like at 23, during his time in Barcelona with (Pep) Guardiola.”
“They have a rich history in World Cups. Their players are physically adept and strong. Therefore, they will be a challenging opponent, without a doubt. We hold them in high regard, just as we do all our rivals. They managed to eliminate Colombia, who had been performing well throughout this World Cup.”
