World's Best Coach Award: Spanish Dominance in the Rankings
Spanish coaches have dominated the list of nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or for Best Coach in the World, securing 4 out of 5 spots in the final list.
Also included in the list is Spanish coach Unai Emery, who guided Aston Villa to win the UEFA Europa League this year, after a convincing 3-0 victory over Freiburg in the final, marking the club's first continental title in 44 years and their first major trophy in 30 years.
The list also includes Belgian coach Vincent Kompany, who led Bayern Munich to domestic double glory (Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal) this year.
It is worth noting that the 70th edition of the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony will take place in London on October 26.
On Tuesday, France Football revealed the nominees for the Best Coach in the World award for 2026.
The list, announced by the French magazine via its account on X, includes 5 coaches, 4 from Spain and 1 from Belgium.
The list features Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente, who led the Spanish national team to victory in the World Cup this year in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time in the final. This marked the team's second World Cup title, following their previous win in 2010 in South Africa.
The list also includes Spanish coach Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, who guided his club to several titles this year, most notably winning the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive season after triumphing over Arsenal in the final via penalties, in addition to clinching the domestic league title.
The list also features Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, who led Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season, bringing the "Gunners" their first title since the 2003-2004 season.
