Moroccan international player Hakim Ziyech received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro early Wednesday morning, preparing to finalize his transfer to Botafogo, in a deal expected to last until December 2028.

After arriving in Rio, Ziyech expressed his excitement for this new experience, stating: “I am very eager.. I believe Brazil is the leading country in football; it’s a way of life here, and that’s what I felt and want to experience.”

He was greeted at Galeão Airport by Botafogo's sporting director Leo Coelho, before being warmly welcomed by the club's fans, who came in large numbers to celebrate his arrival with chants, flags, and fireworks, honoring one of the prominent names the team has signed during the current transfer window.

Ziyech underwent the necessary procedures upon arriving in Brazil before meeting with club officials and taking photos in the airport's VIP lounge, marking his first appearance in Botafogo's jersey.

The Moroccan player is scheduled to undergo medical examinations on Wednesday, after which the contract signing and official announcement of the transfer will take place, provided he passes the medical successfully.

Ziyech had parted ways with Wydad Casablanca after a brief stint with the team, during which he played 16 matches, scored nine goals, and provided two assists, before choosing to continue his career in the Brazilian league.
