Successful Return for Ben Sabaini with Dortmund

Algerian international defender Ramy Ben Sabaini made a successful return to competition with Borussia Dortmund after recovering from an injury sustained during the German Super Cup match against Bayern Munich on August 22.

Ben Sabaini marked his return to the field in the match against Paderborn in the third round of the Bundesliga, coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute, his first appearance since the injury.

The Algerian defender had missed several matches due to injury, including the opening round against Hamburg in the Bundesliga, the first round of the DFB-Pokal against Eintracht Braunschweig (due to suspension), and the second round against Hoffenheim, as well as the first match of the UEFA Champions League against Villarreal (also due to suspension).

Ben Sabaini's return was successful, as he contributed to keeping Dortmund's clean sheet during the minutes he played, with the team finishing the match with a 3-0 victory.

Dortmund had struggled defensively during Ben Sabaini's absence, conceding two goals against Villarreal despite winning 3-2, and allowing two goals in their victory over Hoffenheim by the same scoreline. The team managed to keep a clean sheet against Hamburg, winning 2-0, and enjoyed a significant 5-0 victory in the cup match.

Ben Sabaini received a rating of 6.7 from Sofascore after his substitute appearance against Paderborn. Dortmund secured the match early, with Serhou Guirassy opening the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by a second goal from Nmecha in the 80th minute, and Nmecha again scoring the third goal in the 89th minute.

Ben Sabaini's return is an important boost for Dortmund, especially as the team needs more defensive options in the upcoming phase, while the Algerian is also preparing for the “CAN 2027” qualifiers with the national team.
