African University Games: Algerian Athletes Shine in Badminton and Taekwondo
Algerian athletes have made a remarkable impact in badminton and taekwondo at the African University Games held in Cairo, Egypt.
Following a strong performance in swimming, which yielded 40 medals, badminton added to Algeria's medal tally with 4 medals on Saturday, including two golds.
Malak Ouchafoune stood out among the Algerian participants in badminton, winning the gold medal in the women's singles, and then added a bronze medal in the women's doubles alongside Roza Mamah.
The Algerian duo of Amin Chakal and Fawzi Aissou also secured a bronze medal in the men's doubles.
The second gold came from the mixed team consisting of Yassine Laichi, Bilal Larachi, Amin Chakal, and Fawzi Aissou from the men's side, along with Malak Ouchafoune, Roza Mamah, Amira Bouharira, and Imane Amoura from the women's side.
Two Golds and Four Finals Guaranteed in Taekwondo
On another note, the national university taekwondo team achieved two gold medals and secured spots for Algerian athletes in four finals, paving the way for more titles before the competitions conclude.
The African University Games in Egypt will continue until tomorrow, Sunday, with the Algerian delegation comprising 173 members, including 144 athletes and 29 coaches and officials, competing in 11 disciplines.
