Brahimi provides a significant clarification regarding his future

Yacine Brahimi continues to keep an eye on the national team's news, but his comments regarding his international future seem very clear now. The Al Gharafa player, who has long been a key figure for the Fennecs, took the opportunity to express himself on Sporteam about his situation and the new phase opening for the Algerian national team.

Following the match between Al Gharafa and Lusail, the question of a possible return for Brahimi to the national team was naturally raised. At 36 years old, the former FC Porto player does not plan to return to the international stage. He believes that the new generation fully deserves its chance.

“Returning to the national team? As I have already mentioned, the young players are doing an excellent job and I am very happy at Al Gharafa. They need to be given this opportunity; it’s their moment. It’s not my goal,” he clarified.

This position confirms previous statements from the attacking midfielder, who has not worn the national team colors since June 2024. However, Brahimi did rejoin the Algeria team last December with the A' squad during the Arab Nations Cup. Despite this experience, the player seems to prioritize his journey with Al Gharafa while following the Fennecs from a distance.

When also asked about the arrival of Brahim Hemdani as the head coach of the national team, Brahimi revealed that he has not yet had the opportunity to speak with the new coach. Nevertheless, he wishes him much success in his new role.

“I haven’t had a discussion with the new coach, but I wish the best for the national team because they deserve it. Insha’Allah, the new technical staff will do an excellent job as they have very good players. I will simply continue to support them,” he stated.

Champion of Africa in 2019, Brahimi seems to have opted for a new role: that of a supporter of the Greens, while allowing the new generation to write the next chapter of the story.
