A memorable moment! The 8th World Nanbudo Championship concluded with a stunning victory for Cameroon in Yaoundé. Cameroon topped the medal table with 15 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze, followed by France (1 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze) and Ivory Coast (1 gold, 3 silver, 6 bronze).

Over four days, 18 countries showcased their talents in the capital for this unprecedented 8th edition of the World Nanbudo Championship, a historic event on African soil. On the mats, the Lions displayed their full strength. Cameroon firmly established itself at the top of the global standings, rewarding years of effort.

The event held special significance as it coincided with the fiftieth anniversary of the introduction of Nanbudo in Cameroon and was attended by Sonia Valette Nanbu, president of the World Nanbudo Federation and wife of the founder Yoshinao Nanbu.

For her, the success is attributed to the commitment of Cameroonian authorities and the mobilization of the local organizing committee led by Professor Justine Diffo Tchunkam, president of the Cameroonian Federation.

This aligns with the views of Me Kouassi Komenan, president of the international committee, who praised the monumental work done despite the challenges faced in making this event a true martial celebration.

Nanbudo is a Japanese martial art. Evolving from karate, it distinguishes itself from other combat disciplines through its holistic approach, integrating self-defense, health, and personal development. World Nanbudo Championship 2026: Cameroon crowned world champion.
