Real Madrid avoided another setback in La Liga, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory away against Elche in the sixth round of the competition.

Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Elche goalkeeper Matías Dituro made an error and put the ball into his own net, before Frenchman Kylian Mbappé doubled the lead in the 33rd minute.

In the 71st minute, Abel Osuero pulled one back for the hosts, and then Fernando Niño equalized in the 83rd minute.

In the first minute of stoppage time, substitute Carlos Espí scored the winning goal, giving his team three valuable points.

With this victory, Real Madrid increased their tally to 15 points, sitting in second place, just behind leaders Barcelona, who will face Racing Santander on Wednesday in the same round.

On the other hand, Elche remains at just two points at the bottom of the table, trailing Villarreal on goal difference, who are in second to last place.
