Hamza Abdel Karim, the Egyptian national team striker, expressed his great happiness on Tuesday after signing a new contract with FC Barcelona that extends until the summer of 2030.

Abdel Karim said in a video posted on the official account of the Catalan club on X: "I feel overwhelming joy, and I am proud of this step. I can’t wait to play in the jersey of this prestigious club."

The 18-year-old striker added: "Playing for Barcelona is a dream come true, and my family is proud of my new contract with the club."

Abdel Karim continued: "Barcelona has a unique style of play that it has maintained for years, and I am working to learn to adapt to it."

The former Al Ahly striker praised German coach Hansi Flick, saying: "He is a great coach and always supports me. I also find great support from my teammates every day to be better, which is very important."

The promising player concluded his statements by saying: "I strive to leave a historic mark with Barcelona and help the team in the best possible way. I am happy for the support of Barcelona fans, and I hope to contribute to their happiness."

Hamza Abdel Karim joined Barcelona on loan last February from Al Ahly and began his career playing with the youth team of the Catalan club.

After being promoted to the first team, Hamza Abdel Karim shone during the pre-season, becoming Barcelona's top scorer in friendly matches with 4 goals, taking advantage of the absence of the team's stars who rested after participating in the World Cup.

Later, Barcelona activated the permanent purchase option for Hamza Abdel Karim until 2029, before signing a new contract with him to raise the buyout clause in his contract from €15 million to €120 million, according to Spanish media reports.

Hamza Abdel Karim's name appeared on Barcelona's roster for the first 6 matches of this season, and he participated as a substitute for a few minutes in the match against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on August 31.
