After a particularly intense two weeks, Ibrahim Hemdani has provided an initial assessment of his tenure as head coach of the national team. Between the two matches against Burundi and Niger, the coach was able to evaluate an expanded group and gain a clearer understanding of the players at his disposal.

After a particularly intense two weeks, Brahim Hemdani has provided an initial assessment of his tenure as head coach of the national team. The coach had the opportunity to observe an expanded group and form a more precise vision of the players at his disposal.

“We now have a better understanding; we know exactly what we have experienced over the last fifteen days. We evaluated 26 players, and the objective has been achieved,” Hemdani stated at a press conference following the victory against Niger (2-1).

The Algerian coach believes that this first gathering has allowed him to collect enough information to move forward in his thinking. With 26 players examined in various configurations, Hemdani now has a more concrete vision of the profiles that make up his group.

However, the coach refuses to draw definitive conclusions regarding the next squad. This will only be revealed in about four weeks, and many factors can still change in the meantime, particularly depending on the performances of the internationals with their clubs.

“In the next four weeks, every player will seek to shine at their club. It is impossible to project who will be called up for the next camp because, in four weeks, a lot can happen. This is a thought process that will evolve over time,” he clarified.

Nonetheless, Hemdani acknowledged that he already has a preliminary tendency after these fifteen days of work. “But I have a fairly clear idea of the 26 players I have observed,” he added.

This is a way for the coach to emphasize that the gathering has indeed served to establish a preliminary hierarchy, while keeping the door open for new developments. Performances at club level in the coming weeks could still alter the situation before the upcoming fixtures in November.
