Following Algeria's victory over Niger (2-1), Ilan Kebbal did not hide the shortcomings observed in the Greens. Speaking in the mixed zone after the match, the attacking midfielder admitted that the performance at Hocine-Aït-Ahmed Stadium fell short of expectations.

“We won, but what we showed today was not up to our capabilities,” the player noted, demonstrating a demand for higher standards despite the three goals scored and the Algerian victory.

Kebbal then shared his assessment of the two halves, stating that the Greens displayed a slightly more convincing performance after the break. “The second half was better than the first, but we missed many chances. They easily reached our defensive zone,” he emphasized.

This observation also reflects the collective difficulties faced by the Algerians, particularly in defensive phases. “We were not playing together,” the player summarized, highlighting a lack of cohesion that allowed Niger to pose a threat on several occasions.

Finally, when asked about the competition within the national team, a topic also addressed by Brahim Hemdani in the press conference, Kebbal reminded that this is not new for the Greens.

“For many years, competition has been strong. We are a great nation with excellent players, and competition is a normal thing; it’s the nature of the game,” he stated.

Reflecting his comments, Kebbal seems to embrace the victory while calling for greater demands in performance. The upcoming fixtures will allow Hemdani and his players to continue their work in addressing the shortcomings observed during this gathering period.
