Algeria: Samir Chergui discusses football on the African continent (video)

Samir Chergui shared his thoughts on the differences between African and European football. The Algerian international particularly emphasized the importance of physical duels, direct play, and a very distinct atmosphere.
Samir Chergui addressed a reality he has now mastered: the divergence between European and African football. In an exclusive interview for beIN Sports, the Algerian international highlighted the specificities of the game on the continent, which he considers much more physically demanding.
“In Africa, it’s not simple and it’s very different because football is mainly focused on the physical aspect. The atmosphere is also completely different from that of Europe. The game is very direct and centered on physical duels. That’s African football in general, and it’s no secret for anyone for years,” the defender explained.
This analysis resonates particularly with a player accustomed to French football, but who is now discovering the challenges of international competitions with Algeria. Between the pace, the duels, and a sometimes unique context, Chergui emphasizes the importance of quickly adapting to a framework very different from that of the club.
With Paris FC, the defender nonetheless experienced an eventful evening. In the spectacular 4-3 victory against Rennes, he committed a foul in the box that allowed the Bretons to benefit from a penalty. In the same match, his compatriot Ilan Kebbal stood out by providing an assist.
