Selected for the French national team, Andy Diouf is being rewarded for his strong performances with Inter Milan. Playing as a right wing-back since the start of the season, the 23-year-old Frenchman still hopes to return to his natural position in midfield.
“I don’t consider myself a full-back or a winger,” Diouf said in an interview with L’Équipe. The player emphasizes that he was trained in midfield and feels more comfortable there.
“My goal is to return to midfield because that’s where I was trained and where I feel most confident. I’m convinced that I’m better in that position,” he revealed.
The French midfielder, however, accepts his current role and aims to make the most of it to gain playing time with the Nerazzurri.
“If playing as a wing-back is how I can get minutes and establish myself at Inter, I will do it without hesitation. I’m trying to give my best,” he said.
This versatility could ultimately benefit him, especially if he continues to perform at the same level on the right flank.
