Anis Hadj Moussa has the skills to play for Manchester City. This is the opinion of Robert Maaskant, who believes that the star player of Feyenoord is not necessarily inferior to a talent like Jérémy Doku.
Despite Feyenoord's frustrating draw against Fortuna Sittard (1-1), Maaskant was once again able to rely on Hadj Moussa. The former Dutch footballer turned coach expects the 24-year-old Algerian to finish the season at De Kuip.
“Unless the finances improve and Feyenoord can no longer say no,” the Tuvaluan coach told Sportnieuws. “His value was €40 million? It certainly hasn’t decreased considering his performances.”
“I really appreciate this player. There are very few in the world who can adapt as easily. Let’s hope he stays at Feyenoord for another six months. By then, they will really be in the race for the title,” Maaskant added.
He also mentions the ideal next step for Hadj Moussa: “I can easily see him playing in Spain. Especially in Italy. I also watched a bit of Manchester City on Saturday, and I thought: he could very well play there too.”
According to Maaskant, a Premier League club is certainly within reach for Feyenoord's right winger. “I’ve observed Jérémy Doku; although he plays on the left – he might be a bit more explosive and a bit more aggressive – but Hadj Moussa is just as formidable.”
Maaskant argues that Hadj Moussa will primarily be scouted in the Champions League by recruiters from top clubs. The Rotterdam team will face Inter Milan on Tuesday night.
