With a goal and an assist, Antoine Semenyo helped Manchester City secure a victory over Sunderland this Sunday afternoon.
The match at the Etihad Stadium featured spectacular goals from City and quick responses from Sunderland. Three minutes after Enzo Fernández caught Robin Roefs off guard with a well-placed free kick into the bottom corner, Brobbey equalized.
The forward, selected for the Netherlands national team and who had yet to find the net this season, skillfully maneuvered around two defenders and calmly scored: 1-1.
After half an hour of play, Rayan Cherki restored his team's lead, but Brobbey once again dampened the Citizens' joy. The former Ajax player simply tapped the ball into the net after a brilliant team move involving Enzo Le Fée and Thomas Meunier: 2-2.
Unfortunately for Sunderland, Brobbey had no answer to City's third goal, an opportunistic volley from Antoine Semenyo. Enzo Maresca's team, still unbeaten, went into the break with a 3-2 advantage.
Right from the start of the second half, Semenyo struck again, this time taking advantage of a communication breakdown in Sunderland's defense. For the third time, Brobbey quickly finished off a counter-attack.
Completing his hat-trick, he only had to tap the ball in to bring the score to 4-3 and keep his team in the game.
Shortly after, Brobbey even had the chance to score his fourth goal, but his attempt was blocked by a City defender. A mistake by Gianluigi Donnarumma also prevented Sunderland from equalizing, partly thanks to a heroic intervention from Rúben Dias.
In the closing moments of the match, Erling Haaland sealed the victory, securing three points for the home team. City remains unbeaten in the Premier League and takes the top spot in the standings after Arsenal's surprising defeat the day before. Sunderland remains stuck on four points.
