Bensebaïni: bad news and a deadline approaching…

Ramy Bensebaïni raised some concerns following the match between Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt. Starting in this match, the Algerian defender suffered a severe thigh injury in the final minutes. This incident required medical staff intervention after the final whistle, although it did not indicate, at that moment, a long absence.

After the match, BVB coach Niko Kovač clarified the details surrounding this alert. The Croatian manager specified that his player had received a violent knee strike to the thigh, causing particularly intense pain. The medical team then applied a bandage and ice to soothe the affected area.

A timely break

However, the schedule provides the Algerian defender with an opportunity to recover. Bensebaïni will miss the second round of the DFB-Pokal against Werder Bremen, scheduled for Tuesday, due to his suspension following his red card in the Supercup. This absence will give him a few days of rest to recover and regain his form.

The next crucial fixture for Borussia Dortmund will be the Klassiker against Bayern Munich, set for October 31. The presence of the Fennec will largely depend on the progress of his physical condition in the coming days.

The Greens' gathering on the horizon

This situation is also being closely monitored by the Algerian national team. As the next training camp approaches, Brahim Hemdani's staff hopes to rely on one of their experienced defenders for the two matches against Togo, which are part of the third and fourth rounds of the CAN 2027 qualifiers.

The Greens will first host their opponent on November 14 at the Hocine-Aït-Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, before traveling to Lomé three days later. Until then, the evolution of Bensebaïni's injury will provide indications on his ability to join the squad under the best conditions.
