Wiliete SC has reached the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time in its history. The Angolan club managed to overcome the defending champion, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Few believed that Wiliete SC could advance after the preliminary round draw. However, thanks to the away goals rule, the Angolan club qualified for the group stage.
To achieve this, Wiliete SC first eliminated Seychelles' Foresters in the first round. Then, they held Mamelodi Sundowns to a goalless draw in Angola. The previous season, Wiliete had been eliminated in the first preliminary round. This achievement makes Wiliete SC a team to watch closely this season on the continent.
