Miguel Cardoso assesses the importance of the clash against Wiliete SC this Friday. The Masandawana host the Angolan team and must secure a win, or avoid any draw other than a goalless one, to advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The pressure is palpable for Mamelodi Sundowns on the eve of this return leg. The club risks elimination just before entering the group stage of a competition they have already won. Miguel Cardoso, head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, views this return match as a final. According to him, the knockout rounds resemble finals, at a slightly lower level but with the same stakes.
“We are playing finals. Each of these finals is of utmost importance. What I mean is that the level of preparation required for this match must be high,” said Miguel Cardoso.
