USM Alger and CR Belouizdad now have a clear vision of what awaits them in the CAF Cup. The draw has assigned their respective groups and the teams they will face in the next stage.

Group D offers no margin for error for USM Alger

Crowned champions last season after defeating Zamalek in the final, USM Alger has been placed in Group D. They will face CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), Black Bulls (Mozambique), and AS Real Bamako (Mali). On paper, the draw seems favorable for a team defending its title, but their opponents are well-versed in continental football. The Usmistes will need to demonstrate seriousness from the first matches to secure one of the two spots for qualification.

CR Belouizdad awaits TAS decision

The situation for CR Belouizdad is more uncertain. Group C, which includes AS Maniema Union (DR Congo), Singida Black Stars (Tanzania), and Red Arrows (Zambia), still lacks its fourth club. This will be determined by the winner of the two-legged tie between CRB and AS Douanes, or Hafia FC depending on the outcome of the dispute. The TAS, seized by the Guinean club, has ordered the postponement of this preliminary round and still needs to rule on the substance. If the Belouizdadis qualify, they will enter the competition as favorites, facing a Maniema team that reached the quarter-finals last year.

The group stage will take place from November 27 to 29, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
