CR Belouizdad: Maâloul clarifies his future following his striking statements

After suggesting that he was considering leaving CR Belouizdad following the derby against USM Alger, Nabil Maâloul has ultimately decided to continue leading the team. The Tunisian coach will, however, have to serve a one-match suspension following his expulsion during that match.
At CR Belouizdad, Nabil Maâloul's departure will not take place after all. Just days after raising doubts about his future, the Tunisian coach confirmed that he intends to stay in his position. This turnaround puts an end to the rumors sparked by his comments after the derby against USM Alger, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
It was on the Egyptian channel Modern that the Chabab coach reiterated his desire to continue his mission. “I thank the management for their support. We will continue to work together to please the supporters of CR Belouizdad,” he stated.
After the match against USM Alger, however, his tone was very different. Clearly frustrated by the result, Maâloul had mentioned the end of his adventure with the club and thanked the supporters.
In hindsight, he explained that his reaction was mainly related to the course of the match and the points lost by his team. “The points from the match against USM Alger were within our reach. That’s what made me angry at the final whistle,” he clarified.
Although the Tunisian ultimately chose to stay, the derby episode has also earned him a disciplinary sanction. The disciplinary committee, convened after the seventh matchday of Ligue 1 Mobilis, has imposed a one-match suspension and a fine of 200,000 dinars. This decision follows his expulsion against USM Alger after receiving two warnings for dissent.
The 63-year-old coach also shared his thoughts on the African campaign awaiting CRB. In his opinion, the Confederation Cup will not be a walk in the park; quite the opposite. “The matches in the African Confederation Cup will be more complex than those in the African Champions League,” he estimated.
Now certain of his immediate future, Nabil Maâloul will need to focus on the upcoming challenges for Chabab.
