The governing body of African football has decided to implement Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology starting from the group stage of the Champions League and the Confederation Cup, marking a significant advancement for the integrity and fairness of matches.
To ensure effective implementation of this technology, a training workshop will be held in Cairo by the end of the month for referees selected by CAF. This meeting will allow referees to sharpen their reflexes and become fully familiar with the VAR usage protocol in club competitions.
The practical activation of video assistance is scheduled for the beginning of the group stage in November. This initiative aims to reduce critical refereeing errors and elevate the level of play in the two most prestigious club tournaments on the African continent.
