Group B of the CAF Women's Champions League kicks off its competition this Monday. The defending champions, AS FAR, face the newcomers Kawempe Muslim Ladies from Uganda. In the second match, USFAS from Bamako will take on Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
Winning a 3rd African title and becoming the first team to secure 2 consecutive titles is the goal for the Moroccan military club. As the trophy holders, the AS FAR players boast impressive statistics. Against teams new to the competition, the Moroccan club has recorded 14 victories, just one defeat, and 7 draws. With a formidable offensive potential, their entry into the tournament could prove challenging.
The Kawempe Muslim Ladies are participating in their first CAF Champions League finals. After a respectable run in the CECAFA zone, the Ugandan club managed to qualify at the last minute and aims to cause an upset. Historically, very few teams have won their opening match. This includes USFAS from Bamako and the Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
The two West African clubs face off in the second match of the day. USFAS from Bamako qualified through a qualifying tournament in the UFOA A zone. Ampem Darkoa secured their spot after a series of decisive matches.
Schedule for the CAF Women's Champions League matches (time in GMT):
