Cristiano Ronaldo Announces Retirement from International Football
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Thursday via his Instagram account that he has decided to end his international career at the age of 41, following a weeks-long crisis that led to his departure from the national team camp due to a disagreement with coach Jorge Jesus over his lack of participation in a UEFA Nations League match.
Ronaldo stated in a video: “Today marks the end of my journey with the national team.”
The Al Nassr forward, who began his international career in 2003, played 234 matches for the Portuguese national team and scored 146 goals.
