The National Agency for Public Equipment announced the details of the contract for equipping the pitch of the Grand Casablanca Stadium in the Benslimane region, which totaled 92.47 million dirhams (92,473,875.60 dirhams including all taxes).

According to information in the announcement, of which Hespress has a copy, the contract involves works to prepare the playing surface using hybrid natural grass and artificial turf; specifically, lot number 8, which was awarded to the consortium of SOMECOTRAD and ROYALVERD SERVICE SLU from Catalonia.

In the first phase of the competition, four bids were submitted, and the examination of the administrative and technical files resulted in the exclusion of one company. After evaluating the technical offers, another company was disqualified, leaving only two competitors qualified for the financial phase.

It is noted that during the bidding phase for this contract, the amount of the provisional guarantee was set at one million dirhams. The specifications document for the contract, overseen by "Sonargis" as the project owner alongside the Public Equipment Agency as the delegated project owner, revealed the adoption of a hybrid natural grass system, which relies on planting natural grass and mechanically reinforcing it with synthetic fibers to ensure exceptional durability that can withstand the high pressure of matches.

To maintain global quality standards, the playing surface and its environmental systems will be equipped with advanced technology; including an advanced underground ventilation and forced drainage system to control grass moisture and enhance its growth, as well as movable artificial lighting units (LED) to compensate for a lack of sunlight, in addition to an intelligent irrigation system and central monitoring based on sensors for temperature, humidity, and salinity.

To ensure the sustainability of these facilities, which are set to be completed in 14 months, the contractual document obligates the winning contractor to undertake comprehensive maintenance of the grass in all its details for a full 24 months after the provisional acceptance of the project.

The contract for the external works was also awarded, at the beginning of October, to the CMS-GTR consortium, for an amount approaching 2.7 billion dirhams; in a contract that places the responsibility on the two companies to prepare the area surrounding the sports facility and secure its connection to various road, water, electricity, and communication networks and sewage systems.
