Emad Meteb: Imam Ashour is not focused on football and the exclusion of Mohamed Hani is unjustified.

Emad Meteb, the former Al Ahly star, commented on the exclusion of Imam Ashour and Mohamed Hani from the squad for the match against Modern Sport in the eighth round of the league, stating that he believes the exclusion of Imam Ashour is the right decision, while expressing surprise at the exclusion of Mohamed Hani, emphasizing the importance of the player's character and commitment on the field. Meteb made these remarks during his appearance on ON Sport channel.

Emad Meteb: We need to stop exaggerating players

Emad Meteb said: "We do not have a star or a legend; all players are at a similar level. We cannot consider a player who has played one season and continue to say he is a great player and a legend. We need to stop exaggerating players; I hope that broadcasters and commentators will stop describing a player as a star or a legend when he is not."

Emad Meteb: The exclusion of Imam Ashour is the right decision because he is not in form

Meteb added about Imam Ashour: "The exclusion of a player is the coach's right, and the exclusion of Imam Ashour is the right decision because he is not at his level. We always say before matches, 'I hope Imam is in form,' but he plays according to what he shows in the ninety minutes, and that is not enough. He should appreciate his talent and understand Al Ahly's style of play, as the levels are close. This is my opinion. Imam needs to focus more on football and should realize Al Ahly's style of play, and if he wants to return later, the timing may not be right."

Emad Meteb: I am very surprised by the exclusion of Mohamed Hani

The former Al Ahly star expressed his surprise at the exclusion of Mohamed Hani, saying: "I am very surprised by the exclusion of Mohamed Hani; I cannot place him at the same level as any other player. I consider Mohamed Hani to be on par with El Shenawy; he is a committed and disciplined player who has contributed a lot to Al Ahly, and he is a leader on the field, which is important."

Meteb added: "After the Canal match, Mohamed Hani and Imam Ashour were excluded. If you are excluding him because he was not successful in the Canal match, that represents a bigger problem, as he has a history that makes it easy to forgive him."

He concluded his remarks by saying: "Mohamed Hani was the best player in the Zamalek match, and in the Canal match, the atmosphere was negative for everyone. Therefore, I do not evaluate who was bad, but rather I evaluate who did not take responsibility. We can talk a lot about the technical aspects, but here I am talking about character."
