England: Belloumi is just one goal away from matching Mahrez!

Oct 13, 2026

With three goals in six Premier League matches, Bachir Belloumi is making an impressive debut with Hull City. The Algerian winger is just one goal away from matching the total achieved by Riyad Mahrez during his first season in England.

Bachir Belloumi needs only one more goal to equal Riyad Mahrez in a specific aspect: the number of goals scored during their first season in the Premier League. The Hull City winger has already netted 3 goals in just 6 appearances in the English top flight.

During his debut season in the Premier League with Leicester in 2014-2015, Mahrez finished with 4 goals in 30 matches, adding three assists. The former captain of the Greens played 2,079 minutes and contributed to the remarkable survival of the Foxes.

Belloumi is currently on a significantly higher scoring pace. In addition to his three goals, the Algerian international has already provided two assists, totaling five contributions in 424 minutes of Premier League action. His latest goal came against Everton, just minutes after he entered the game, to equalize at 2-2.

Of course, the comparison is limited to their starts in the English league: Mahrez would go on to explode in the following season with Leicester. But for Belloumi, reaching or even surpassing Mahrez's four goals in the upcoming matches would already be a remarkable achievement in his first year among the elite.
