Hours before the Europa League clash against Olympiakos, Himad Abdelli appeared at a press conference with a speech full of confidence and determination. The Algerian midfielder also shared his personal journey, versatility, and return to the national team, ahead of a crucial week for Olympique de Marseille.

Himad Abdelli approaches this new phase with a renewed mindset. When asked about his progress since the start of the season, the Algerian international acknowledged that he has evolved, especially mentally. “A new Himad since the start of the season? I completely agree,” he stated before the journalists.

The Marseille midfielder explained that he has learned to better manage the pressure that affected him during the previous season. “Last year, I put pressure on myself. The coach gave me freedom, and that allowed me to thrive,” he confided. This evolution seems to allow him to approach matches with more serenity and confidence.

“We will do everything to prove we can compete”

As the European match against Olympiakos approaches, Abdelli also answered questions regarding the Marseille squad's ability to compete on the continental stage. Far from being worried, the Algerian player displayed his determination: “A squad not designed for Europe? No frustration, because we know we have quality. Tomorrow, we will do everything to prove we can compete with this type of team.”

Regarding his role on the pitch, the former Angers player also showed some flexibility. “I have no preference regarding my position. The coach can place me as a defender,” he said with a smile, thus highlighting his willingness to serve the team.

A significant return to the national team

This press conference was also an opportunity for Abdelli to discuss his return to the Algerian national team, having rejoined the ranks of the Greens during the September camp. “I am delighted to have returned to the national team. It’s a source of pride,” he stated.

Finally, the trip to Angers, scheduled for next Sunday in Ligue 1, will hold special significance for the midfielder, who emerged under the colors of Angers. “I was discovered there, it’s always emotional,” he acknowledged.

Before these reunions, Abdelli and his teammates must first focus on the match against Olympiakos, aiming to validate their progress and assert themselves on the European stage.
