After temporarily losing ground during the international break, Algeria benefits from the latest FIFA ranking update. The results from the gathering allow the Greens to conclude on a positive note.

The provisional FIFA ranking had brought disappointment for Algeria during the international break. Following their victory against Zambia (3-1) and a draw against Burundi (2-2), the Greens had temporarily dropped to 30th in the world. The update published on Tuesday, October 7, finally corrects this trend.

Thanks in part to their victory over Niger (2-1) to close the gathering, Algeria has now climbed to 28th in the world, a one-rank improvement from their position before this international window. Brahim Hemdani's men now have a total of 1574.77 points, with an increase of 1.78 points in this latest update.

This rise also allows the Greens to move ahead of Nigeria, who had been ranked above them since January and their victory in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Algeria now stands at 4th place in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt, while regaining a position that better reflects their overall performance in this gathering, which ended without any defeats, with two wins and one draw.

In his first window at the helm of the team, Brahim Hemdani boasts a record of two wins in three matches, with four points gained out of six in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. After temporarily losing ground in the FIFA ranking, Algeria ultimately concludes this break with a global advancement and regains the 28th position.
