France: Jean-Pierre Papin charmed by Bezahaf

After a successful first start with Marseille, Kelyann Bezahaf received high praise from Jean-Pierre Papin. The former Ballon d'Or winner has a good understanding of the young Algerian and does not hesitate to express his admiration.
Jean-Pierre Papin got to know Kelyann Bezahaf well when he was in charge of the OM reserve team. The ex-Ballon d'Or openly shares his respect for the Algerian right-back, who made an impressive first start during the victory against Troyes (2-0). At just 20 years old, the Marseille player is seizing his opportunity in the absence of Timothy Weah to prove he can be a viable option.
Papin particularly highlighted his innate talents: “He is very, very good technically. He has an excellent foot for crossing. He’s a little wild dog. He never gives up, he is fast.” For the former striker, Bezahaf possesses exactly the qualities sought in a modern defender. He also describes him as a “very intelligent” player, serious and capable of quickly grasping the demands of high-level football.
JPP also recalls a particularly striking training session against the first team led by Roberto De Zerbi: “Kelyann had an exceptional match.” This anecdote proves that his successful debut in Troyes is not really a surprise for those who have seen him develop in the youth academy.
At the end of the match, Bezahaf naturally savored the moment: “This is my first start with my heart club, the one where I was trained, so it’s definitely rewarding.” The young Algerian also mentioned feeling little pressure, referring to himself as a “Minot” used to the Marseille environment.
