Ramy Bensebaïni is going through a difficult phase in Germany. Although he has delivered promising performances when called upon, his future with the Yellow and Black raises real questions.

Bensebaïni's future at Borussia Dortmund seems uncertain. According to sources from the German newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten, the club's management does not currently plan to renew the contract of the Algerian international, which expires next June. This situation suggests a potential departure for the 31-year-old defender at the end of the season, after spending three years with the BVB.

This trend can be explained by the player's position in Niko Kovac's hierarchy. While he enjoyed regular starter status last season, the Constantine native now faces increased competition. Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, and Joane Gadou currently seem to have the upper hand in the German coach's plans.

However, Bensebaïni's recent appearances show that he is still capable of stepping up. In the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Fennec delivered a solid performance, making numerous defensive interventions and contributing to his team's new clean sheet. This display also allowed him to be recognized among the top players of the last Bundesliga matchday.

Arriving in 2023 from Borussia Mönchengladbach as a free agent, Bensebaïni has made 112 appearances for Dortmund, scoring ten goals and providing eleven assists. It remains to be seen whether his upcoming performances can influence the stance of his management or if the Algerian international will need to consider a new challenge next summer.
