The injury sustained by Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi while playing for Paris Saint-Germain against Brest yesterday has raised fears about his potential absence from the upcoming match against Marseille, as well as from the Moroccan national team camp, after he was forced to leave the game before halftime.

After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique stated that the club's medical staff will determine the nature of Hakimi's injury following examinations, saying: “I hope it’s not serious; it’s hard to know at this point... This will be confirmed after the doctors assess his condition.”

The results of the examinations are particularly important for the national team, with the announcement of coach Mohamed Wahbi's squad for the upcoming matches against Gabon and Lesotho approaching. The "Lions" coach will hold a press conference next Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, starting at 11 AM, to reveal the names of the selected players.

The national team will host Gabon on Friday, September 25, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, before facing Lesotho on Tuesday, September 29, in Bloemfontein, South Africa, as part of the first and second rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The national team staff is awaiting the results of Hakimi's medical examinations, as his absence from PSG's match against Marseille next Sunday is becoming a real possibility, while his participation in the "Lions" camp will depend on the severity of the injury and the duration of absence determined by the medical diagnosis.
